Statutory Framework & Regulatory Purpose

Governing Law: India

UPI Intent mechanics, payment processor role, webhook verification, and settlement disclosures.

Overview & Scope

These Payment Gateway Terms govern the technical mechanisms, fee handling, and settlement protocols through which payments are collected, processed, and reconciled on PaisaJi.

1. Payment Aggregator Intermediary Role

PaisaJi partners with RBI-authorized Payment Aggregators (PAs) and Scheduled Commercial Banks to securely handle payment intake:

All funds collected from consumers for utility bills or recharges are channeled through Nodal / Escrow Accounts maintained under RBI Master Directions for Payment Aggregators and Payment Gateways.
PaisaJi does not hold client funds in non-compliant proprietary balances.

2. UPI Intent & Collect Flow Mechanics

1. UPI Intent Flow: When you select UPI payment on mobile, the PaisaJi application triggers an Android UPI Intent linking directly to your installed bank/UPI apps (e.g., BHIM, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, CRED). You authorize the debit inside your authenticated UPI app using your bank-issued UPI PIN.
2. UPI PIN Confidentiality: PaisaJi never receives, prompts for, or intercepts your UPI PIN. The PIN screen is rendered entirely in a secure isolated sandbox managed by your bank's PSP and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
3. Webhook Verification & Idempotency: Every transaction completed through payment gateways is cryptographically verified on PaisaJi backend servers using HMAC-SHA256 signatures and idempotency keys to eliminate double debits.

3. Settlement & Merchant Obligations

Completed customer bill payments are settled to the respective biller utility or telecom operating unit within the agreed settlement window (T + 1 Business Day).
If a biller fails to acknowledge credit confirmation despite payment gateway settlement, PaisaJi's automated dispute resolution module intervenes to initiate auto-reversal or push manual settlement proof to the customer.
