Digital Payment Safety & UPI Fraud Prevention Guide

Essential cybersecurity hygiene to safeguard your digital transactions, prevent unauthorized withdrawals, and protect personal financial identity.

1. The Golden Rule of UPI Payments

Remember Always:

You only enter your UPI PIN to SEND money or check your balance. You NEVER enter a PIN to RECEIVE funds.

If someone on an online marketplace claims they are sending you money and instructs you to scan a QR code or enter your 4-digit/6-digit PIN, it is 100% a fraudulent debit scam.

2. Common Financial Scams & How to Spot Them

Fake Customer Care Numbers

Fraudsters place fake helpline numbers on search engines. Always initiate support requests directly from official banking and PaisaJi app menus.

Screen-Sharing Software

Scammers pose as bank verification agents and urge you to install AnyDesk, TeamViewer, or QuickSupport to steal credentials in real-time.

Urgent Electricity Disconnection SMS

Threatening messages stating power will be disconnected tonight unless you call an unknown mobile number. Always verify via BBPS on PaisaJi.

KYC Update APK Links

Links sent via WhatsApp or SMS asking you to download an APK file to complete banking KYC. Only update KYC through authorized official portals.

3. Emergency Action Plan (If Compromised)

  1. Dial 1930 Immediately: Contact the Ministry of Home Affairs National Cyber Crime Helpline (1930) within the first golden hour to initiate an interstate banking freeze on the defrauded funds.
  2. Block Cards & Net Banking: Log in to your bank’s primary app or hotline to disable debit/credit cards and reset your UPI PIN.
  3. File Cyber Police Complaint: Register an official grievance at cybercrime.gov.in and retain your acknowledgment number.
  4. Notify PaisaJi Grievance Officer: Inform our customer support team at support@paisaji.com so we can assist with transaction trace logs.

Bank-Grade Security with PaisaJi

All PaisaJi transactions are protected with 256-bit AES encryption, multi-factor biometric authentication, and strict RBI adherence.
